A QR label on a storage bin gives you a way to open its inventory record without opening every box. The code is the connection; the useful part is the information you keep behind it. With RIVET, the full home inventory app is free. You can print your own labels inside the app, use compatible existing codes or choose ready-made RIVET labels.
Print your own labels
Start with paper or a printable label sheet such as Avery. RIVET lets you print labels inside the system, so you can try a tote or shelf before buying anything. Choose a label and placement suited to the surface and conditions where you will use it.
Paper can be a practical start for dry indoor storage. A freezer, a frequently handled tool or a surface exposed to fuel has different requirements. The reason to buy a prepared label is its material and intended use, rather than access to more app features.
Use labels you already own
Already bought another brand's QR labels? RIVET supports importing or scanning compatible existing codes. You can bring those labels into your RIVET inventory rather than replacing them just to start using the app.
If you are unsure whether a particular code will work, contact support before buying more. Compatibility with a code does not mean another company's stored inventory automatically transfers with it.
Choose ready-made labels for the job
RIVET label packs are optional. Starter gives you a way to begin with the basics. Total Home brings together multiple sizes and applications, including removable labels, freezer labels and labels designed for abrasion or gasoline exposure. Check the pack details for the label suited to each job.
Hanging tags are another option when an adhesive label does not make sense. You can also create locations and inventory items without using a QR code. A kitchen cabinet does not need a sticker just to be part of your inventory.
Remember the items inside, too
RIVET records each item inside a tote individually. Move the whole tote from the utility room to the garage, and update the tote's location. Take just the hatchet to the trailer, and update the hatchet's location. Its useful details stay with its record.
You still need to record changes when things move. A QR label gives you a convenient way back to the record; it does not automatically detect a move.
Your storage can change
Labels can be replaced or reprinted, and codes can be reassigned as your storage changes. Start with one place where searching annoys you. Use the full app for free, then decide which label materials make sense for your home.
