About RIVET · Home inventory that remembers

Your stuff has a story.
RIVET helps you remember it.

The camping gear you packed last fall. The spare part you kept because you knew you’d need it. The freezer food you meant to use first.

You already own useful things. Finding them—and remembering the details—is where it gets difficult. RIVET is a home inventory app built to give the stuff you store a memory.

Why it exists

Built out of a real need.

RIVET started with the same problem it helps solve: a home full of things worth keeping, and too much information to keep in your head.

QR labels offered a useful starting point. Scan a tote and see what’s inside. But there was more worth remembering than a list of contents.

Which attachment fits that tool? Where do these bolts go when the project goes back together? What did we pack for camping? How long has that been in the freezer?

RIVET was built to keep those answers with your things.

How it helps

Capture what matters.
Find it in your own words.

Add a photo, talk through what you’re storing, or record a Walkthrough. Review what RIVET captures, then keep the details that will help you later.

01 · CAPTURE

Start with one useful place.

Organize a tote, shelf, drawer, freezer or project. Use a QR label where scanning makes sense, or create a location without one.

02 · FIND

Ask the question you have.

“Where did I put the angle grinder?”
“What do I have that will cut steel tubing?”

Search or Ask RIVET in your own words.

03 · SHARE

Give the household the answer.

Share one live inventory so finding something doesn’t depend on one person remembering everything.

Start with a single tote. Add more detail wherever it earns its keep.

Our approach

The full app is free.
Labels are optional.

Unlimited items. Unlimited labels. Household sharing.
No subscription or paid upgrade.

You can start without labels, print your own inside the app, or link compatible QR codes you already have.

We sell ready-made label kits for people who want them, with different labels and hanging tags for different jobs around the home. Those physical products are how we’re building the business. They don’t unlock app features.

Your information belongs to you, and you can export it.

Founder of RIVET · Alberta, Canada

I’m Mike, and I’m building RIVET from my home in Alberta, Canada.

I use it for the same things you’ll see on this site: garage storage, tools, projects, camping gear and freezer food. The examples come from things I actually need to remember.

I wanted something simple enough to record what’s in a tote, with room to keep the deeper details when they matter—like how a motorcycle part goes back together.

That’s what I’m building RIVET to do: help us make better use of what we already own.
