RIVET Privacy Policy

RIVET QR (“RIVET,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a home inventory and organization app, related website, and physical QR label products. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
Account information. When you create or use a RIVET account, we may collect information such as your name, email address, authentication and session information, and settings associated with your account.
Inventory and household information. RIVET stores the information you choose to add about your property and belongings, including places, containers, items, labels, QR-code associations, quantities, notes, reminders, locations within your home, and household-sharing information.
Photos, video, voice and other content. If you use RIVET to document your belongings, you may provide photos, walkthrough videos, voice notes, typed descriptions, and other content. We process this information to create and maintain your inventory records and to provide features such as search, suggested drafts, and Ask RIVET.
Purchase and order information. If you purchase RIVET products through our online store, Shopify and its payment and commerce providers may process contact, billing, shipping, payment, and order information needed to complete the transaction.
Device and technical information. We may collect technical information needed to operate, secure, diagnose, and improve the service, such as device type, app version, operating system, log information, and crash or error data.
How we use information
We use information to operate and improve RIVET; create, store, sync, search, and retrieve your inventory; process photos, video, voice, and text that you submit; prepare suggested inventory drafts for your review; provide reminders and household-sharing features; respond to support requests; process and fulfil product orders; protect the security and integrity of the service; and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Household sharing
If you invite another person to your RIVET household, information in that shared household may be visible to the people you authorize. You are responsible for choosing whom you invite and for removing access when it is no longer appropriate.
Service providers and disclosure
We use service providers to help operate RIVET, including cloud hosting, database, authentication, commerce, payment, communications, analytics, and technical-support providers. These providers may process information on our behalf as needed to provide their services.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect the rights or safety of RIVET or others, to investigate fraud or security issues, or as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business.
We do not use the contents of your household inventory to sell targeted advertising to you.
Data retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide RIVET, maintain records, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and protect the service. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and why it is needed.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices and requests
You can update or remove many inventory records directly in the app, manage household access, and control notification permissions through your device or app settings. You may also contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with your account, subject to applicable legal requirements.
For account or data deletion requests, contact us from the email address associated with your RIVET account.
Children
RIVET is not intended for children under 13.
International processing
Our service providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other countries where they operate. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from those where you live.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date on this page and provide additional notice when appropriate.
